Montessori Parent Workshop

Childcare and healthy refreshments will be provided.

We are happy to invite all parents interested in learning about the Elementary program to our Montessori Workshop. This workshop is designed to help you understand how your child learns in the Montessori environment, and how you can support and encourage this learning at home in simple and enjoyable ways.

During the workshop, we will cover:

1. What the Montessori environment is

How it supports independence, concentration, and a natural love of learning.

2. How Montessori materials work

Our teachers will demonstrate how the materials are used in the classroom, and how they guide children step-by-step toward mastery.

3. How parents can support learning at home

Practical, playful ways to reinforce classroom learning at home without pressure. This includes helping your child with early reading. Reading at this stage means understanding that each letter has a sound, and that when we say these sounds together, they form words. Practicing this playfully at home can help children progress faster and with confidence.

We encourage everyone to attend. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn, ask questions, and continue building a strong partnership between school and home.

We look forward to seeing you!

Blog

At Alive Montessori School, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Montessori education encourages children to explore, create, and grow in a hands-on, child-centered environment. We know many parents are eager to extend this philosophy at home, but might not know where to start. That’s why we are excited to launch our new blog series: Montessori Activities for Home.

At Alive Montessori, we are using the educational methodology developed by Maria Montessori because it has a proven track record of achieving much better results than other methods. For example, 3 and 4 year-olds typically learn to read and write and do simple math – skills normally expected two or three years later in the public school system.

There is a perception that as the Montessori approach encourages independent work cycles, children in a Montessori classroom do not interact with each other, thus resulting in a lack of social interaction which can have a negative impact upon the child’s development. Nevertheless, while Montessori does respect the fact that each child is unique and has different areas of interests, hence the children are allowed to choose their own materials and a classroom is not expected to have children who will do the same activity at the same time, there are different ways in which social interaction is met daily.
